From March 12 to 14, 2025, the Belarusian delegation visited Smolensk as part of the important project "Inclusive Education: a favorable environment for realizing the potential of every child". This training visit had several key objectives, including expanding international cooperation, strengthening professional ties and sharing experiences in the field of inclusive education, as well as discussing topical issues of teacher training for the education and upbringing of people with special educational needs.
The delegation started the first day with a visit to the Smolensk Pedagogical College, where issues of preschool education and correctional pedagogy in primary schools were discussed. The participants of the meeting focused on getting to know the universal accessible educational environment for children with disabilities. An important point was the demonstration of modern equipment for training future specialists. At the end of the visit, the above issues were discussed at a round table.
On the second day, Smolensk State University became the venue for an important meeting dedicated to the implementation of bachelor's degree programs in the field of correctional pedagogy in preschool and primary education. During the round table, Lyudmila Grimovskaya, Dean of the Faculty of Psychology and Education, as well as heads of departments and teachers, shared with colleagues their valuable experience on how to create optimal conditions for students with disabilities to study. In addition, the delegation had the opportunity to meet with representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Smolensk region. During the discussion, issues such as the training of personnel for organizing the educational process with children with special educational needs in institutions of secondary specialized and higher education, the development of professional standards in the field of education, as well as the organization of special psychological and pedagogical classes in institutions of general secondary education were touched upon.
On the third and final day, the delegation went to MBOU "Secondary School No. 33" in Smolensk. Here, the meeting's emphasis shifted to the training of modern teachers in a single "School-college" educational space, as well as the introduction of a mentoring model in the psychological and pedagogical classroom. In addition, two thematic open lessons were held in the first grades.

During the meetings, the Belarusian side, in turn, also shared its unique experience in organizing preschool education for children with special needs of psychophysical development, which includes not only training and qualification improvement of relevant personnel, but also the development of professional educational standards.
As a result of the events, it was possible to get acquainted in detail with the practices of Russian colleagues, which made it possible to identify the main areas of cooperation and establish partnerships that are important for the development of inclusive education.

At the end of the visit, a thematic excursion and educational program called "Smolensk is a city of caring people" was organized, thanks to which the delegation had the opportunity to observe the conditions for organizing a barrier-free environment in public places of the city.
The participation of representatives of the Belarusian side in the events of the visit was highly appreciated by the organizers. This demonstrates Belarus' intentions to cooperate in priority areas of inclusive education, opening up new horizons for joint efforts for the benefit of children with special needs.
