History in a live lesson: students from Mozhaisk (Russian Federation) visited Belarusian places of military historical memory

In the period from April 27 to April 30, 2024, the Center for International Relations, in cooperation with the Belarusian State University of Economics, organized a visit to the Republic of Belarus by a group of students from secondary education institutions in Mozhaisk (Russian Federation).

The visit took place as part of the implementation of the Union State's Action Plan for 2024, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders, approved by Resolution No. 4 of the Supreme State Council of the Union State dated January 29, 2024.

During the excursion and educational program "The Feat of the Soviet people is immortal", Russian schoolchildren immersed themselves in the atmosphere of the war years and visited key places of military glory and historical memory of the Great Patriotic War in Belarus - the historical and cultural complex "Stalin's Line", memorial complexes "Kurgan of Glory", "Khatyn" and "Brest Fortress–hero", and also tried a real soldier's lunch.
In addition, during the program, the tourists were able to get acquainted with the main sights, architectural appearance, history and culture of the Belarusian capital and the city of Brest, visited unique monuments of Belarusian architecture – Mirsky and Nesvizh castles, and also got an idea of the scientific and educational potential, educational opportunities and living conditions in dormitories of the Belarusian State Economic University.
Today, preserving the memory of the heroic deed of the Soviet people during the Great Patriotic War is not only a task of strategic importance, but also a matter of national security of the Union State.

In this regard, the holding of joint Belarusian-Russian civic and patriotic events in the anniversary year of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders has a significant impact on the education of modern youth in the spirit of respect and sincere love for their Homeland, as well as on the formation of a true image of historical events in the modern geopolitical situation.
