Round table "Feat in the name of the future. To Live and remember", dedicated to the 79th anniversary of the Great Victory

As part of the nationwide campaign "Belarus Remembers" on May 7, 2024, the Center for International Relations and the International Association of University Graduates (MAVVUZ), in cooperation with the Belarusian National Technical University, organized a round table "Feat for the Future. To live and remember", dedicated to the 79th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

The round table was attended by foreign students of BNTU from the Republic of Zimbabwe, students of the Belarusian State University in Computer Science and Radio Electronics, as well as graduates of universities from different years from Lebanon, Syria, Kyrgyzstan and Palestine (in online format).
During the event, foreign students got acquainted with the main milestones in the history of the liberation of the Republic of Belarus from the Nazi invaders, the most significant places of military historical memory on the territory of Belarus, and got into the history of the tragedy in Khatyn.
V. Metelsky, a 2nd–year student at BSUIR, shared with the participants of the round table the story of his great-grandfather, a heroic participant in the Great Patriotic War. The presentation was filled with personal memories, photographs and documents that turned the report into a living story passed down from generation to generation.
The heads of the Center for International Relations and MAVVUZ, A.A. Samuilich and A.D. Mayevskaya, noted the exceptional importance of preserving historical memory, which is the foundation on which the present and future of each nation are built, which is especially important in modern geopolitical conditions.
After the event, Zimbabwean BNTU students took part in the festive event "Do you want peace? Remember the war!", held in the student village and dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders. The participants completed the patriotic quest "The Long Way to Victory", and also enjoyed a concert program, master classes and a field kitchen.
In the near future, MAVVUZ together with the Centre for International Relations have planned a number of events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus, with the participation of foreign students of Belarusian universities, including laying flowers at the Victory Monument and cultural and educational programmes of civic and patriotic orientation.
