Belarus-China: promising vectors of regional cooperation in the field of higher education

In the period from May 22 to May 26, 2024, the Center for International Relations, in cooperation with the Consulate General of the Republic of Belarus in Chongqing, organized a business visit of Belarusian institutions of higher education to the People's Republic of China with the presentation of the collective exposition of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus "Education in Belarus" within the framework of the VI International Trade and Investment Fair of Western China (Chongqing).

The event was attended by 3 full-time institutions of higher education of the Republic of Belarus: the Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics, Vitebsk State Medical University and Gomel State Technical University named after P.O.Sukhoi.

The Belarusian delegation presented its scientific and educational potential within the framework of the thematic exhibition "Education in Belarus", during which potential applicants from the People's Republic of China and their parents, representatives of Chinese recruiting and consulting organizations were consulted about the possibilities of studying in the Republic of Belarus, relevant promotional and presentation materials were distributed.

During the business visit, the Belarusian delegation also visited Sichuan Changjiang Vocational College (Chengdu) and Chongqing Machine-Building Engineering Senior Technical School. The issues of promoting the services of Belarusian universities among college students and exploring the possibility of creating joint educational programs were discussed.
On May 24, 2024, members of the Belarusian delegation took part in the large-scale Belarus-Chongqing business forum, during which E.A. Loseva, Head of the Department for International Cooperation and Export of Educational Services at the Center for International Relations, made a presentation on "Belarus-Chongqing: promising vectors of cooperation in higher education."
Following the event, framework memorandums of cooperation were signed between the Center for International Relations, Vitebsk State Medical University and Sichuan Weishulifang Education Technology, several dozen negotiations were held, contacts were established between Belarusian universities and educational institutions and organizations of the People's Republic of China, opportunities for promoting Belarusian educational services to the Chinese market, and the recruitment of students from China to Belarusian universities, organizations of academic exchanges and short-term internships, educational tourism to Belarusian educational institutions, creation of joint educational programs.
